Its half term week.

So short one this time.

I am taking most of the week off to be with the children but am at work on Monday. Last week we were planning a big recruitment of staff (see the website for details….). It was time to really think about the levels of experience, knowledge and qualifications that we see as the minimum and desirable for each job. The new Ofsted regulations on qualifications and ratios leave a lot more flexibility for employers.

The team seems vague about what makes a good playworker or at least unsure that it can be assured through any particular experience or qualification, rather it is something that comes naturally, a very real interest in children and a flexible adaptable approach that is open to the children’s voices, some joy in life. We have some very skilled, brilliant, unqualified playworkers….

IPA is planning to get a new website designed- we were talking today about platforms, domain names, hosting and dynamic functions… I said I liked the Iplayer site. Not sure how helpful that was.

The AGM is looming and the various reports are being amalgamated in to ever fewer documents. Which is good. There is a need for us to have a clear communication strategy but that needs some communication to happen to facilitate it and in the meantime I have a report to get out….
